All week the weather has been gloomy, but warm weather and bright skies are scheduled for this weekend and there just so happens to be a number of exciting events going on this weekend. So be sure to get out, do something unique this weekend.
Waved Out Music Festival: September 25 – The Exhoplex, Hollywood
Waved is not your typical music festival. Instead of featuring major headlining acts that span across various music genres, the second annual Waved Out festival will showcase some of the more unique rock acts out there. Psychadelic rock, garage rock, folk rock, and just gold ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll, will be prominently on display throughout the night. Headlining the event will be the Swedish psychedelic rockers Dungen, whose sound is said to mix elements of Hendrix and Floyd with a dash of jazz and experimental rock. The event will also feature comedians and some of LA’s most popular food trucks. For more information on the musical acts and other things ongoing, check out the Aquarium Drunkard website.
Feast of San Gennaro: September 24-26 – 1651 Highland Ave., Hollywood
Come out this weekend for the annual celebration of the rich history of Italian Americans. This event is sure to feature live music, a number of cultural booths, a Catholic Mass and Procession, some Bada-Bingo as well as a ton of amazing food. And the best part about it is that it only costs $5 to get in and all proceeds go to charity. So come out to Highland Ave. this weekend and get your Guido on, capeesh.
West Hollywood Book Fair: September 26 – West Hollywood Park, West Hollywood
Come take part in one of the largest Annual Book Fairs in Los Angeles, as over 150 exhibitors and booths will be set up to satisfy any literature craving you may have. The event is also set up to promote reading, writing, and literacy within the community so be sure to come out and support a good cause. Plus who knows in a couple of years Book Fairs will soon become a thing of the past, with the emergence of all the new fangled technology that is out these days.
Dennis Hopper Double Standard Exhibition: September 24-26 MOCA, Downtown
Come out for the last weekend in which MOCA will be displaying the Dennis Hopper: Double Standard exhibition. The exhibit showcases numerous works done by the late artist himself, giving a unique look into the creative and artistic mind of Hopper. The exhibition will feature various pieces spanning across such artistic mediums as painting, sculpture, and photography.
Vampire Weekend: September 26 – Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood
Happening this weekend at the Hollywood Bowl, NYC indie prep-rock sensation Vampire Weekend will make their Hollywood Bowl debut this Sunday. Also Maryland based “dream pop” duo Beach House will kick off the show with their sweeping and soulful sound.
