With summer only a few months away why not work towards that beach body you’ve always wanted? A great way to start off your workout routine is by participating in this year’s Los Angeles River 5k Fun Run. This race is a great opportunity to get back in shape right in time for the summer. For those of you just beginning your fitness plan, the LA River run will start you off on the right foot. Since this is not a competitive race, participants are encouraged to run at their own pace but to also push themselves as much as they possibly can. This event calls together all communities within the greater Los Angeles area including children, teens and older adults. This is the 2nd annual LA River Fun Run which takes place on Sunday, May 5 along the LA River beds. For those who don’t like to run, choose to jog or walk the entire race. This event was made possible by the Councilman Tom LaBonge and A Runner’s Circle. Promoting community involvement, charity, and healthy lifestyles, the LA River Fun Run is a positive experience for every participant. This event is fun for the whole family so kids are strongly encouraged to participate. There will be a Free Kids 1k run and kids free zone featuring other fun activities, so sign up your kids today!
There are expected to about 800 participants attending this race, so be prepared to meet a lot of locals and tourists staying in Hollywood CA or the Los Angeles area. In addition, participating in this race will also give you chance to raise awareness to restore the LA River. The goal of this event is not only to bring neighboring and diverse communities together but also to raise donations for the beautification of the river. The Los Angeles River is considered to be a hidden gem as it bears a significance in LA history. While participating in this race, you will experience the wonderful wildlife and history of the LA firsthand. All the proceeds will go towards the restoration of the LA River and bring it back to life. Unlike previous races, this year will reveal a new 5K course run that will take you along the river bike trail from Los Feliz Blvd. Save the historic LA River by showing your support and raise awareness alongside organizations actively participating in this great cause.
