How the Grinch Stole Christmas at Universal Studios

If you’re bringing the family to Los Angeles for the holidays, Universal Studios Hollywood is a must visit. Instead of Santa and the elves, the Grinch and his Who-ville take over Universal Studios. The occasion is Grinchmas, an event that occurs December 10-11 and daily from December 17 until January 1. The park will also open early from December 25 to January 1 (at 8am).

Grinchmas Winter W<onderland covers Universal Studios with blankets of real snow refreshed daily. Kids can make their very own snowmen! The Whos will also carol in the Backlot, and you’re invited to sign along!  Every night of Grinchmas, celebrities such as Jeffrey Tambor, Dot Marie Jones and Florence Henderson read Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Afterwards, the Grinchmas Tree is lit to spread the un-holiday spirit. Kids can also have their photo taken with The Grinch and Max! The Studio tour will also visit original sets from the movie “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” where characters will reenact scenes. Universal Studios is offering a special for Grinchmas season: buy one day for $77 and get a season pass for 2012 for free! Or if you’re interested in staying for a weekend, you can get a $75 ticket for 2 Days at Universal Studios.

Universal CityWalk will also be decked out with a 40 foot Christmas tree to celebrate the holidays. You can take photos with Rockin’ Santa and experience an all new light show on the brand new 5 Towers stage while finishing last minute shopping. The show occurs every 20 minutes from 6pm to 10pm.  Restaurants and live entertainment such as DJ Dance Parities will also be available for a night of fun! The special Chanukah Celebration will occur December 20 from 6pm to 9pm. As always, live music will play all weekend, ranging from a capella to Latin, pop and rock and much more.

The Hollywood Hotel offers a free shuttle to Universal Studios as well as specials on park tickets. Hope you have a great holiday season in Los Angeles!
