Harry Potter has been a part of modern culture for almost 17 years. From the moment the first book was published, it was obvious that it was going to be a huge hit, and after 7 books which were then turned into 8 movies, it is still one of the most loved series and is among the highest grossing films of all time.
The Harry Potter collection at the Hollywood Museum will feature items from the film franchise and will be a permanent fixture until June of 2016. The collection will feature a large selection of items on display which were used in the 8 movies, including the ultimate broom from ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone’, which was the first movie in the franchise. Also on display will be Harry’s quill and inkpot (used throughout his time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry), Harry’s robe, and a selection of other costumes, posters and photos, in addition to signed blueprints of the school and its rooms.
There will be an area dedicated to the wands used in the movies, featuring Harry’s instructional wand with the black handle, Professor Dumbledore’s purple wand, and a wand box which has been signed by actress Maggie Smith, who played Professor McGonagall. There will also be several other wands on display which were used throughout the movies.
It’s not just about movie paraphernalia as the actors themselves have also donated items for the display, including shoes from all three of the main cast members — Daniel Radcliff, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson — and the stylus which was used when they were honored at the Chinese Theatre.
Children and adults alike are bound to get excited over an exhibit like this. It is a must see for any Harry Potter fans out there, so be sure to come and visit when you are staying in one of the hotels near the Hollywood Museum.
