As we enter what looks to be a rainy week in Hollywood, segueing into the classic “June gloom” episodes seen so frequently in the beginning summer months, it’s good to remember that there are many indoor activities to check out in Los Angeles! Many places to stay in Hollywood are just a metro ride away from Hollywood Boulevard, which is home to the famous El Capitan Theatre, as well as many other local attractions such as the Hollywood Museum, Madame Tussauds Hollywood, Hollywood & Highland Center, and more.
El Capitan Theatre
Famous for its Walt Disney Studios’ film premieres, this venue is a Hollywood staple and always a bright spot on Hollywood Boulevard. The theatre is known for its family-friendly slant because it frequently hosts birthday parties and family events, not to mention many of its films are animated and many are Disney classics that have been re-released in theaters! Playing currently until June 19 is the epic Iron Man 3, and accompanying the show is an exclusive display of collectibles and comic books that any fan would enjoy!
The Hollywood Museum
Are you a fan of vintage Hollywood or classic movie memorabilia? Then the Hollywood Museum is the place to check out! Frequently exhibiting shows with ties to old Hollywood, this museum is centrally located right in the center of Hollywood and showcases over 10,000 authentic show biz treasures. The current exhibit features Loretta Young, but there is also an exhibit featuring some of the film industry’s scariest movies in the museum’s basement for those who like to be spooked!
Madame Tussauds Hollywood
Pose for photos with the stars at the famous Madame Tussauds in Hollywood. If you’re unfamiliar with Madame Tussauds museums, you’re in for a treat! The museum is a wax museum, filled with all sorts of celebrities and notable characters that look downright real and sometimes feel alive, despite being made of wax! This museum is a definite must-see if you’re in the Hollywood & Highland area and you will not be disappointed.
Hollywood & Highland Center
Don’t forget some of Hollywood’s best shopping is at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Stores of all varieties call this famous outdoor mall its home. Complete with restaurants, cafes, bowling, movie theaters, ample shopping, and more, the Hollywood & Highland is a great place to kill a couple hours!
The stretch of Hollywood Boulevard around Highland Avenue has a tremendous amount of entertainment, and although the attractions listed above are great indoor activities for a rainy day in LA, there are many ways to be outdoors as well! Check out the interactive Accomplice: Hollywood show, attend a Jimmy Kimmel Live taping, stroll down the Walk of Fame, mingle with all of Hollywood’s best characters on Hollywood Boulevard…the list goes on!
